The problem
Many industrial organisations have pending OT cybersecurity projects, unprioritised initiatives and technical decisions to make—validating an integrator's proposal, reviewing a network design or choosing a tool—with nobody in-house who has the expertise to do so. The IT team does not know industrial protocols or the zones and conduits of IEC 62443, OT engineers do not come from a security background, and the workload does not justify a full-time industrial CISO.
The typical result is consulting reports that remain in a drawer, purchases guided by vendors with their own interests, and projects that start and are abandoned. What is missing is continuity and independent judgement.
Scope
- Structured start-up: kick-off meeting, plant visit and a prioritised work plan.
- A flexible bank of hours used on demand, without committing to a permanent hire.
- Support for architecture decisions and review of network designs and automation projects.
- Technical validation of third-party proposals and tender support: specifications, evaluation criteria and comparisons, without commercial bias.
- Support during deployments and roadmap execution, plus training for internal teams.
- Translation between IT and OT, so security policies do not conflict with process availability and safety.
Deliverables
- Independent judgement for every decision, with traceability of what was recommended and why.
- Third-party designs and proposals reviewed before signing, not after installation.
- Continuity: the person who assessed the work remains involved when it is time to execute.
- Measured, accountable use of hours, with a report showing where they were spent.
Questions we are asked before engagement
How is this different from conventional consulting?
A consultancy delivers a report and leaves; the Technical Office stays. It provides ongoing support for a one-off question, a specification review or a problem that arises during deployment, month after month throughout the project.
How does it compare with an in-house industrial CISO?
It provides the same judgement without the fixed cost. For many organisations the volume of work does not justify a permanent role, while a bank of hours provides access to that expertise only when needed.
Do you recommend your own products?
Our advice is independent and free from conflicts of interest: we choose based on technical requirements and operating cost, not a catalogue. If one of our own products is suitable, we say so and justify it like any other option.
